evokes a moment of vulnerable introspection – “Received a photo with cloudy sky at 6AM” – suggesting an early, solitary hour where emotional boundaries dissolve. The figure is doubled, blurred, echoing dissociation. They float above a patterned textile, wrapped in soft, ambiguous shapes, caught in a state between waking and dreaming. The sketchy lines and subtle shading reflect a disembodied presence: a body partially held together, partially slipping away. The spiraling forms around the head hint at inner dialogue – private, looping thoughts that mimic the infinite scroll of online content.
Across both images, there’s a poignant tension between protection and exposure, intimacy and detachment. The bodies wear history like a filter, drawing on medieval symbolism and digital iconography to communicate the surreal, sometimes lonely search for selfhood in unstable realities. These are not portraits of individuals, but of states – emotional, psychological, and virtual.
Reflections of a Cold Sun is an elegy to a generation navigating identity through layers of artifice, history, and digital mediation – haunted by the self, and by others we’ve never met.
